Zipping Down to Portland

Memorial weekend we zipped on down to Portland for two days/one night.  It was our family of five that piled into the Suburban, the Veh's were meeting us there and we all had high hopes of a fun filled weekend!  RIGHT????
WRONG!!!  Ok well let me explain. There were some amazing fun moments in Portland...the few that pop into my mind are:  1.  Drinking mojitos with my sister and watching the hubby's and kids swim in the pool.  2. Dancing in the room the morning after almost ZERO sleep and pure exhaustion.  3.  Watching the kids LOVING all the animals at the Portland Zoo.  4.  Going to Micminimans and having a yummy dinner and a few and much needed adult beverages.
All that being said, it was good in some ways, but it was rough.  Really rough...so rough that we have since cancelled our summer trip to Leavenworth, or should I say temporarily put any kind of trip on hold until our littles get a bit older.  Not worth it my friends, not worth it.
Some of you may wonder what could have happened that caused us to cancel all future trips and any other future babies we may have sort of entertained..???
Let's see...could it have been the screaming for 3 hours in the car on the way there AND on the way back?  Or could it have been the MANY toddler tantrums that left our entire hotel room floor using their ear plugs?  OR maybe it was the baby that cried the ENTIRE day at the zoo?  Maybe it was the fact that we were up at 3:30 in the morning and none of us went back to sleep...because we were all in ONE hotel room.  (Poor Maddie vowed to never have children after this trip)
When we finally made it home at 10:00 Sunday night....bathed two screaming babies....and took hot showers to clean the remnants of the weekend off of us....we looked like we had been through a war zone!  LOL
We asked ourselves if we would ever be able to laugh about it?  At that moment no.  Now, of course!  It was a joke!  Hysterical in fact!  SO, that being said, we had great moments, but we still will NOT be vacationing any time in the very near future.  I love that we can laugh about everything and know that we were creating wonderful memories and things we can share with our kids later in life.  Because we will NEVER forget this trip!
Some of the great moments captured below....
